Each NAR rectifier is custom made to your specifications for your application. NAR is the leader in convection and air cooled rectifiers which eliminates the cost and maintenance associated with cooling water systems. A proven track record of over 40 years of air cooled operational success is primarily attributed to robust internals that even when an NAR rectifier is at full output, the internals are operating well below their design ratings hence generating less heat. Generously sized and numerous heat sinks further assist in dissipating heat. It is common for NAR rectifiers to operate in 45C conditions under continuous duty without any overheating interruptions.

We offer a 3-year warranty on our SCR rectifiers, and a 5-year warranty on the transformer.

Advantages of Air-Cooled SCR Rectifiers

Air-cooled silicon-controlled rectifiers (SCRs) represent a technological marvel in power electronics, offering numerous benefits across diverse industrial applications. These reliable, robust units have revolutionized rectification processes, providing unparalleled performance and versatility. Let’s explore the myriad advantages of air-cooled SCR rectifiers and their significance in modern engineering.

Air-cooled SCR rectifiers excel in providing precise control over power delivery, thanks to their ability to regulate the firing angle. By adjusting the firing angle of the SCR, engineers can finely modulate the conduction period of each half-cycle of the input AC waveform. This precise control enables tailored adjustments to the output voltage and current, making air-cooled SCR rectifiers indispensable in applications requiring accurate power regulation, such as motor drives, electroplating systems, and electrochemical processes.

Efficiency is a hallmark of air-cooled SCR rectifiers, owing to their streamlined design and effective heat dissipation mechanisms. Unlike water-cooled or oil-cooled rectifiers, which rely on external cooling mediums, air-cooled SCR rectifiers utilize forced air circulation or natural convection to dissipate heat generated during operation. This inherent cooling system minimizes energy losses and ensures optimal performance, resulting in higher efficiency and reduced operating costs over the long term. Additionally, the absence of coolant systems simplifies installation and maintenance, making air-cooled SCR rectifiers a cost-effective solution for various industrial settings.

Reliability is paramount in industrial applications, and air-cooled SCR rectifiers deliver on this front with robust construction and dependable performance. Built with high-quality components and rugged enclosures, these rectifiers can withstand harsh operating conditions, temperature fluctuations, and mechanical stresses without compromising performance. The inherent simplicity of air-cooled rectifiers minimizes the risk of component failure and downtime, ensuring uninterrupted operation and enhanced productivity in critical manufacturing processes.

Furthermore, air-cooled SCR rectifiers offer environmental benefits by eliminating the need for coolant systems and reducing water consumption. Unlike water-cooled or oil-cooled rectifiers, which require constant water circulation or oil replenishment, air-cooled rectifiers operate without consuming water or oil resources.

Simply put, NAR’s air-cooled SCR rectifiers stand out as efficient, reliable, and versatile solutions for power conversion and regulation in industrial applications. Their precise control capabilities, efficiency, compact design, reliability, and environmental sustainability make them indispensable assets in various sectors, from decorative chrome to electrowinning.
